Wiki Ground Rules & Guidelines

Rules & Guidelines for Members (Editors):

If you see a button to "Edit This Page" on any of the pages in this wiki, then you have editing rights. People who are invited to be members of the wiki will automatically be granted these rights when they accept the membership invitation. Here are some basic rules & guidelines that our class is asking each member to follow when creating or editing content in the wiki:
  • You may create as many new pages as you'd like, but page content must relate to the objective for our project (providing a visual representation of a math term or concept). See the Home page for a description of the project and the project instructions.
  • Pages must not contain any content that might be considered obscene or offensive. You may need to do your homework and make sure that you aren't inadvertently saying or portraying something that would be offensive to someone from a different cultural background from your own. If you find something in the wiki that appears to break this rule, please contact Ms. Ouradnik immediately.
  • Pages must be linked to the Glossary, another term/concept page, or show up in the navigation sidebar. Orphan pages will be deleted by the wiki organizer.
  • If you are adding a definition and visual to a page that someone else has originally created, add your content AFTER any other content that appears on the page.
  • If you wish to change the order of content on a page, or change any of the page characteristics, such as default font style, color, background or page permissions, please contact the page creator, as well as anyone else who has placed content on the page, and arrive at a group decision for how the page should be organized, look, or what the page permissions should be. You can find out who created a page by clicking Manage Wiki -> Pages and viewing the page information in the page list.
  • You may leave comments about any of the pages by clicking the discussion tab and entering your comment. If you feel that you need to say something negative about a page, please don't be nasty about it! Leave constructive criticism so that the page creator can take steps to remedy the problem.
  • Please do NOT change someone else's content without their permission!

Rules & Guidelines for Visitors & Guests:

In order to leave comments on the Discussion tabs in this wiki, you will need to be logged on with a wikispaces username and password. If you are logged on, you will see your username in the upper-right part of the browser window. If you see the word "guest," then you are not logged on. A wikispaces membership is free and easy to sign up for by clicking the "wikispaces" button in the upper-rght corner. Here are some basic rules & guidelines for visitors who want to leave comments:
  • Go to the page that you want to comment on. This can be any one of the term/concept pages that you can get to from the Glossary page, or any of the pages found in the navigation sidebar. Click the "discussion" tab at the top of the page to leave your comment.
  • Please keep your comment relevant to the page you are commenting on. If you have something to say about another page or pages, in addition to the one you are currently commenting on, please go to the other page(s) and use the discussion tab.
  • Please do not use obscene or offensive language in your comment. If you have something negative to say about the page, it is most helpful if you can describe the issue you have with the page content and suggest a solution. In other words, provide constructive criticism so that the page creator can take steps to remedy the problem.
  • Contact the wiki organizer directly, if you find anything that you feel is obscene or offensive on any of the wiki pages.

Thank you!
