Gravity

[Back to the Glossary]

Gravity is the force that pulls two objects together. You might think of gravity most often as the force that pulls things toward the surface of the Earth. The amount of force that gravity exerts on two objects is jointly proportional to the mass of each object, and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers of mass. Look out!
